U.S. Dollar Premium Bonds
The Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh introduced U.S. Dollar Bond and U.S. Dollar Premium Bond from 1st November 2002, with a view to providing the highest profit or interest to Non-Resident Bangladesh Nationals and also Nationals having his/her origin in Bangladesh.
- Rate of Profit/Interest:
- 1st year 6.5% pa
- 2nd year 7.0% pa
- 3rd year 7.5% pa
- Payment of Profit/Interest:
Profit/Interest is payable only in Bangladesh currency. - Half Yearly Payment of Profit/Interest:
Every year after six months Profit/Interest is payable @ 7.5% if principal amount is not withdrawn before maturity. - Refund of Principal Amount:As per option of the holder, payment may be made either in Bangladesh Taka or in US Dollar.
- Death-Risk-Benefit:
Purchasers of US Dollar Premium Bond valued at $10,000 and above are entitled to have Death-Risk-Benefit which is payable only in Bangladesh Taka at the following rate:
Amount Percentage of Death-Risk-Benefit a) From US$10,000 - $20,000 15% of the amount (equivalent to Bangladesh Taka). b) From US$ 20,500 - $50,000 20% of the amount (equivalent to Bangladesh Taka). c) Above US $50,000 25% of the amount (equivalent to Bangladesh Taka).
Provided that the maximum amount of Death-Risk-Benefit shall not exceed TK 2,000,000 and that the age of the purchaser shall not be over 55 years at the time of his death. After the death of the holder, the nominee/legal heir(s) shall claim the Death-Risk-Benefit within three months from the death day of the purchaser. No claim shall be acceptable after the expiry of the said time (three months).

Payable in US Dollar. - Denominations:
