Remittance Service
Sending money back home to family and loved ones is an important service provided by Sonali Bank (UK) Limited. Remittance is effected through Electronic Transfer or Drafts.
The Bangladesh Taka, UK pound Sterling and US Dollar can be remitted from the UK. The remittance system of Sonali Bank (UK) Limited and its offices has been computerised in order to speed up the safe transfer of money in a fast and secure manner to your friends and family anywhere in Bangladesh. The remitted money is sent via one of 14 destinations in Bangladesh: Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet, Moulvi Bazar, Beani Bazar, Balagonj, Biswannath, Jagannathpur, Sunamgonj, Golapgonj, Nobigonj, Hobigonj, Kulaura or Tajpur, which makes the process of remittance fast and convenient.
Sonali Bank Bangladesh has over a thousand branches countrywide but we can arrange for funds to be paid to beneficiaries in any part of Bangladesh through the bank of your choice.

We have recently introduced a new Remittance 'swipe' card system. The new card makes processing your remittance much quicker and faster. Once you have registered with us a Customer Remittance Card is provided with your unique number. If you are sending a remittance to one of your previous beneficiaries there is no longer any need to fill in any further forms.

Remittance by Post:
You can send remittance with a personal cheque, banker's draft or building society cheque made payable to "Sonali Bank (UK) Ltd". Please see table below for the number of clearance days before we send the remittance.
All remitters are required to register and are required to provide two forms of ID for verifying correct details e.g. Passport to verify yourself and utility bill to verify your address - for full details of supporting documents click here.
Please do not send your passport or driving licence by post, send photocopies of them verified by professional persons e.g. doctor, solicitor or public notary, as per our approved list.
Customers who maintain an account with us can send remittance by written instruction for debiting their account at no additional charge. If you do not have an account and would like to open one please contact our account opening department.
The current tariffs for home remittances are:
Up to £100 £3.50
£100.01 to £2000 1.25%, minimum £4.00
£2000.01 and above 1%, minimum £25, maximum £40
